Half Up Rosette Buns, Flower Girl Hairstyles
A Cute Hairstyle Featuring Braids And Curls!
Who's in the mood for another fancy schmancy formal style? This half up hairstyle would be pretty not only for flower girls, but also for attending a wedding, prom, communion, recital, homecoming, Easter Sunday, baptism, church, or other special occasion. I love that this hair style is very feminine and "princess like" with old fashioned (vintage) flair.
In case you are wondering, the ringlet curls cascading underneath these 3 braided buns were made using a standard 1/2 inch curling iron. We have a curling tutorial showing this technique on YouTube at the following link: Curling Iron Tutorial. By the way, we receive requests for hairstyles that will work with naturally curly hair quite often and this one would be great!
We love cute braids styles which are so popular right now. The triple rosettes featured in this down do were created using standard braids and bobby pins (forming a braided crown of flowers around the back of her head.)
A top view of the style below..... As you can see, we parted her "bangs" on the side. Of course, if you prefer, you could part your hair in the middle.

Braided Flower Updo, Easter Hairstyles
A Pretty "Braided Flower" Hairstyle
I'm thinking this elegant updo would be a perfect hairstyle for Easter Sunday, Prom, Flower Girls, Brides, and other special occasions. We're just in love with this look created by using braids to form a "hair flower!" So.... Spring like!
Flowers and roses made from hair seem to be a very popular trend right now, as I have seen many variations of cute flower buns and updos all over Pinterest, Instagram, and Youtube lately. I'm guessing you have too?
I've been experimenting with several different ways of making flowers out of hair for awhile now. Some have turned out awesome, while others have been a fail for us. I wanted to make sure this tutorial was "doable," practical, and quick. As you'll see in our video below, this actually just starts out as 2 standard french braid pigtails! This classic braided hairstyle is quite easy to create as long as you know how to french braid.

I wanted to show a close up of the way we parted her hair for this updo in case you are curious. I'm not a huge fan of center parts in some hair styles and thought a side part would be more flattering in the front. But I also wanted the braids to somewhat the same thickness (with a center part in the back.) As you can see, the part begins on the side of her face in the front, then goes back at a diagonal to the center of her head and finishes straight down the middle in the back. We actually use this type of parting a lot for pigtails and other styles. Of course, you are welcome to part your hair however you please though!
And... we just had to take a picture to share her new Spring / Easter dress! Isn't it cute? Surprisingly enough, we found this dress a few weeks ago at Costco for a great price. ;)
If you are still trying to decide on an Easter hairstyle, here are a few of my personal favorites linked below:
Basket Weave Hairstyle
Fancy Princess Updo
Braid In A Braid Hairstyle
This cute and unique braid looks quite complex, but is actually a very simple hairstyle and quick to make!
It's always nice to have a few 5 minute hairstyle ideas on hand for busy school mornings (or work.) And.... this braid is much more fun than a boring ponytail or bun!
We have had many requests for easy hairstyles lately and I love how simple (yet unique) this braid is. If you can make a standard 3 strand braid, then you can definitely create this braided plait using a micro braid! This is also a hairstyle that can be done on yourself easily (for those of you who do not have a personal stylist available at your beck and call.) ;) Yay!
Braid In A Braid Video Tutorial:
We opted for a low side braid this time, which does require fairly long hair. Of course, this braid could also be made in a standard ponytail, pigtails, pull backs, a half ponytail.... whatever you want. The trick to making this braid really "pop" is by stretching the strands when you are finished. Pulling the edges of the braid really make this hairstyle go from ordinary to extraordinary. Hope you enjoy braiding braids! Thanks for watching and sharing!!

5 Strand Waterfall Braid
How To Five Strand Waterfall Braid Tutorial
A beautiful and intricate waterfall braid using 5 strands of hair instead of the standard 3 strands! This technique creates a unique woven effect where the braid lies, along with the familiar cascading strands hanging below (a look which has made the fall through braids such popular hairstyles.)
We have done several "non standard" waterfall braid tutorials on our hairstyling site recently, including a fishtail braid, a twist braid, and now a 5 strand braid. Feel free to check out the other two variations if you haven't already!
This plait is actually quite advanced and can be difficult to master at first. It's probably one of the more difficult braids we have posted here on our hair blog. But, I don't want to discourage you. It's just so beautiful, I believe it's worth the effort. ;) Like most braids (and other non hair related things in life) after a little practice... it's really not so bad!
5 Strand Waterfall Braid Video Tutorial:
Half of this next picture turned out blurry.. and I'm not sure why. Darn! I tried to fix it, even trying black and white, but was unsuccessful. Anyway, she is so excited to have such long hair again. She has been hoping to be able to grow her hair out to her waist. Almost there!
And.. a close up of the braid.
Hope you enjoyed. We would love to see pictures of this one on our facebook page if you try it. And as always, feel free to pin and share!
