Quick Back To School Hairstyle......And May Be Done Hair Blogging

K, so now that school has started for us again (booo) I've been trying to decide if we're going to keep up this blog or not. :( I've actually been thinking about this for awhile now. The princess just started first grade (holy cow) and now goes to school all day (early in the morning.) Unfortunately I'm NOT much of a morning person. I don't really see myself getting out of bed 1 minute earlier than I have to, kwim?

We'll probably be doing quick and simple 5 minute hairstyles almost every school day. (Boring)

Something like this.......

hairstyles for girls

quick hairstyle for school
back to school hairstyle
Nothing special, but if you hate mornings like I do, feel free to give it a try! You'll be out the door in 5 minutes. If you've forgotten how to do a twist braid or are new to hair blogs, click on this link for our twist braid video. I'm guessing the rest should be a snap.

One last silly picture!!
Before I forget, I also want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU to all of you for reading our blog!! Your sweet comments and emails have been our very favorite part of blogging. You've brightened our day on MANY occasions with your kind words. I'm torn because we've loved doing this blog and the thought of quitting completely makes me sad. :(

I've thought about re posting some of our favorite older styles that have probably been forgotten, and maybe doing a new style on the weekends once in awhile. What do you guys think? Would that be boring to see our old stuff again?

Until we decide what we're doing for sure (don't give up on us quite yet).......we still have the ShooShoos baby shoes contest running until tomorrow (don't forget to enter.) Also, we have several giveaways scheduled in the next few weeks and will be happy to continue hosting giveaways for anyone who asks us while we're in limbo.

Whould you like to comment?

  1. not boring, boring is hair down with it just brushed!

sorry you might pull the plug. yes, how sad, but you will do what is best for you and your family. hugs to you

  3. Not being a morning person myself, I totally understand. Since I haven't been following your blog for too long, I think it's a good idea, if you have time, to start over at the beginning with older hairstyles.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I have been more of a lurker on your blog and have never commented before but I have to say "I'm so sad." Yours is one of the best hairstyling blogs. I would love if you would post some of your older stuff and do "new" on the weekends.

Thanks for all the great posts!

  5. I am absolutely in love with your blog and have yet to see or try all the styles. I would love an occasional blog, even something like once every other week. Also, as I have 2 girls who go to school so early, I love the quick 5 minute hair styles. They may be boring for you who is so talented, but a life saver for those of us whose daughters are always stuck with a low ponytail. Thanks for sharing your talents with us!

  6. I love your site. We get all of our ideas from here. If you do decide to quit blogging, I hope you'll leave your blog around so we can keep referencing it. My princesses and I love looking through the archives. We just found special hair do's for the first day of school! Thanks!

  7. My daughter doesn't have the patience for all of the super fancy stuff, so seeing some cute and quick hair styles would be wonderful. I know blogging takes a lot of time, so I understand you wanting to quit, but I don't think you have to do an all-or-nothing blog! Just post occasionally, we'll still follow!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Kori, you are truly an inspiration! We love your site for ideas! I have learned a lot from you. I would love some more posts from you ANYTIME!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Since I only found your blog a couple of weeks ago, I definitely have not seen all of your styles. I think that it would be great if you repeated some of the old ones, with new ones once in a while on the weekends. Also, those five minutes hairstlyes are helpful, too.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hiya, I've never commented on you blog before, but will now to say that I would hate to see you go.

My daughter absolutely Loves looking through your site for a new style - she's 6 and a half now, and as we are in the UK, I've been doing early mornings for over 2 years now! We have pigtails or buns for school and save fancy hairstyles for weekends, parties and special occasions - it's our special time together (with three brothers she needs it!)

If you could keep it going, just now and again (would fortnightly be too much?) with a weekend style I would be over the moon - but as has been said, you've gotta do what's right for you and yours :)

Thank you already for providing so much thought and ideas. I have forwarded your blog on a few times to other people, who have also been very thankful - i think you have provided more happy times between mothers and daughters around the world than you may realise!

  11. I've loved looking thru you blog, and trying almost all of the styles. I'd love to see some of the older stuff revisited it would be great. If it works for you and your family. Best wishes.

  12. I love your site! I have told so many of my friends about it! As for quitting..do what's best for you. However, I do have to say that my favorite hairstyles you showed are your five minute hairstyles. I love the quick and easy and I think all of us are short on time...so my vote is just show all your quick and easy styles! Thanks again for all of your amazing do's!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm sorry that I've been a lurker and not posted. Your blog is on my Google Reader and I love to see new posts from you. I am not very creative and love new ideas. I hope you won't leave - even if you only repost hairstyles (I forget them and it's great not to have to go back).
So I hope you won't give it up. I really enjoy it!!

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  14. I am one who does not comment very often. But I love your hairstyles. I always love new and old things you have to try. Also I was wondering about your wall in your pics. It is beautiful. We just built a house and I was wanting to try something new.

    ReplyDelete
  15. There are always weekends and special occasions! =o) I just found your new blog not long ago and I have 3 girls, so it's been very helpful!

    ReplyDelete
  16. I absolutely LOVE your blog, and I would appreciate any small offerings that were posted every once in a while. :) But as I will start sending TWO girls to school in the morning next week, I completely understand the need for quick (I still have a third girl at home--see why I love your blog???).

Anyway, no matter what you decide, thank you so much for doing your blog in the first place! Before a friend referred me to you, my idea of a fancy hairdo was two ponytails instead of one. :) (Actually, I had to grin at your idea of a "boring" 5-minute hairdo--much fancier and cuter than anything I'd ever come up with!) Thanks again! Good luck with first grade!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I love and use your blog often for my 2 girls. I understand your feelings about blogging/quitting. Although we'd love to see you continue, EVEN if it's just repeating old hairstyles - which we've probably all forgetten about - so they'll be new again!

But do what's best for your family and you! Best wishes in whatever you decide to do!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I think it would be great if you re-posted older hairstyles. But, I do understand if you can't keep up with it. Kids definitely take up lots of time...and family is important!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. will you be leaving the actual blog up still so we can come back and check out the older hairstyles.....because that would be wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  20. You should just post on the Weekends, old stuff, I don't care. I love to read your blog. If you do decide to give up the blog, then you'll be doing what you think is best for your family. We'll definitely miss you!!

  21. To the Princess and Her Mother, the Queen of (Hair)Style - THANK YOU for all the time and effort you have put into this blog. I can't imagine how much time and planning you both have invested. My four daughters (and our many cousins, aunts, neices, neighbors, friends...) really truly enjoy your blog. The tutorials and videos and explanations are great, and you have such a skill for dreaming up amazing hair art.

"Recycling" older posts sounds GREAT to me, with occasional posts on holidays and weekends. And any 2-minute or 5-minute inspirations you have would also be MUCH appreciated.

Do what's best for your family. We love you no matter what. If you decide to quit posting, can we BEG you to leave the blog up for continued inspiration and perusal?

    Thank you, thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Dont go!!!! We just found you not too long ago. I have told my friends to visit your site and they love it too. But if (heaven forbid) you do decide to leave than please know you will be missed.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Please Please Please stay! I look at your blog nearly everyday! Im cool with repost's and stuff. I hate mornings to. But yours is definilty the BEST Hair Blog out there!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. While I understand why you may not have time for the blog any longer (I have a daughter in first grade too!), I actually really appreciate seeing cute 5-minute styles so that I can contain my own princess's hair for a day of reading, writing, and running around the playground! She gets tired of pigtails, and you've got such a creative mind that I love seeing what you create for your daughter :)

Whatever you decide, best wishes for the future!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Don't stop now! I just found you. The quick 5 min hair do's will be great for the school year!

    ReplyDelete
  26. If you really HAVE to stop bloggin :( I'd love to see old styles!! I could look through your old posts all day, but that exhausts my eyes, so seeing them one at a time would be nice! And if you find a new style on a weekend...I'm sure we'd all love to see it!

Oh, and my little critter starts first grade tomorrow too :) She tells me she's a "real kid now" ;) Good luck to your daughter!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I love all your styles and would be very sad if you stopped. I will take whatever I can get. I also look up old ones all the time when I forget how to do it. Please don't stop.

I do understand because my daughters don't get much hair done on weekdays...I'm not a morning person either. I love them for Sundays and special occasions though. Please, Please don't stop:)

  28. I can imagine that keeping up with this blog is time consuming. But you have helped so many people. I found your site not too long ago and have already used a bunch of your ideas. And I have recommended you to a lot of other mom's. I hope you can keep it up. I have you saved in my favorites and check back on your site often.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm new to your blog but love your ideas. So old styles will still be new to me. Post away!

    ReplyDelete
  30. You have mentored me from the beginning, helping a newbie learn the ropes! I have three girls now in school full time, and have been feeling the blog burnout as well! Reposting links sounds like a great idea... I hope you will keep going!

  31. Please, please, please don't stop. You have a gift and all us moms of princesses are so grateful that you share it with us. Reposting the older styles and a new one here and there on the weekends would be awesome! I never tire of looking through all your creativity awesomeness!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have never commented here before but I have to say noooooooooo! Please don't give up completely. This is my absolute favorite hair blog. I totally live by it, and my daughter (3) and several nieces all adore all your fun hairstyles. I think, as others have said, that quick hairstyles or occasional fancier ones on weekends or when you get time would be so fabulous! Of course, your family should always be your #1 priority, but if you can work it, you have soooo many people that love your creativity and all the effort you put into this blog. It would be so sad to see it disappear completely.

    ReplyDelete
  33. We moms understand how hard mornings can be. I have just started in the last 6 months doing my daughter's hair and coming across your blog was what really got me started. So a big thank you in in order! I hope that if you do decide to stop blogging, that maybe you can leave your blog up so we can come back and visit for ideas? Thanks again for your creative work!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm so new to your blog (last three months) that I'd love to see you repost some of your posts. =0) And, if you wouldn't mind keeping it going even if it's just one post a month! That would be a huge blessing to us! =0) But we also understand how blogging can eat up time.

    ReplyDelete
  35. oh no, i just started following this blog! family comes before blogging, though (gasp). i loved your 'boring' hairstyle; unimaginative people like me can use all help they can get. i love your site!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Will be so sad to not have your blog, but I totally understand the need to simplify! FIngers crossed you keep it going, love all your cute ideas! Thanks for all your great posts!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am right there with you. My little girl just started first grade also and it's hard to get her (and me) up and going in the morning. I so miss being able to do all the cute/fancy hairdos on her that I'm sure many at school have come to expect from me. If you could, I think a style on weekends and re-posting older hairstyles would be great. Also fast ones would be great now. I might only do a ponytail, but I try to at least do a fancy braid or something. That seems to be fast too.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'd like to see more like this. Help me make my daughters cute in 5 minutes!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love the 5 minute sytle and would love to see more 5 minute styles. My daughter goes to K this year, but since I work, we still have to be up and moving early- so 5 minutes for the hair sounds great! I would not mind seeing old styles or just a few and far between posts- I would hate to see you leave completely.....but I do understand you have to do what is best for your family!

    ReplyDelete
  40. repeats on weekdays and new on weekends or just new on week ends sounds great to me

    ReplyDelete
  41. please stay, I just found out about this blog and i luv it sooo much, and i would be happy with older and new weekend stuff.
But what ever you do decide it's fine and you have to do whats best!
    Thanks for all the hairstyles!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I wouldn't be bored with seeing older styles and new ones on the weekends, especially if it means you'll stay! I love your blog and would miss it very much!

    ReplyDelete
  43. False alarm people--- go back to your business nothing to see here. Kori was just having a moment.

Seriously Kori. I know you have talked about stopping for a while, but don't.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I too like the new on the weekends thing... I'd miss not seeing new things from you! And although I have gone through your entire archive of styles, I would be perfectly happy to see one featured each day as a reminder or flashback;)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Just don't make it go away! We check the archives all the time for what we want to do today. Love your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Oh please don't stop doing your blog. I have 3 girls of my own. they get sooo sick of the one ponie in the back just because it's fast and easy. I love seeing the fun, cute hairstyles I can do and every time I use one of your hairdoes I ALWAYS get compliments. I've really appreciated you doing this blog. We'll miss you if you decide to quit.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I would love to see the "old stuff"...at least keep it open so I can browse the old stuff.

    Crystal

    ReplyDelete
  48. I don't think posting old do's would be boring! I love your hair blog! It is seriously the best one out there and I'd be lost without it!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I am so sad! But totally understand! My daughter and I love going through your archieves so as long as you don't disappear all together we will still visit often!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I totally understand! And honestly, quick and simple 5 minute hair do's are what a lot of people are probably really looking for. So if you have some quick and easy do's then I am sure that everyone would love to see those. A lot of your hair do's we have had to try on Saturdays or on my younger girl when she will let me because they take a little bit more time, but I am always looking for cute quick and easy hair do's. But if you do decide to stop with the hair blog, then I'm sure that everyone would understand.

    ReplyDelete
  51. no please dont quit i love your blog and i would still love it if you added just new things simple things for school and stuff!!

  52. Well, since I'm "newer" with less than a year of reading the blog, I say bring on the old styles. I'd love to see them!

    ReplyDelete
  53. YOU CANNOT STOP!!! I love your blog and my little first grader loves it too. I think old ones on weekdays and new dos on the weekend is a fab idea.

However, thank you SO much for sharing your talents with us and your amazing ideas. Seriously, you are so creative and have TOTALLY inspired me to make my little girls look more darling than I could have possibly imagined. You are AMAZING and your little princess is B.U.T.FUL!

    THANKS!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I've never commented before, but want you to know how much I LOVE your blog! I understnd the need for family time, so as many have said before, do what is best for your family. But I'd be so grateful if you kept this site up so we can reference. I don't know if this will help you, but my princess has had to do 20-30 min reading every day for school, and that is what she does while I do her hair in the morning. It's worked out fabulously for us. She only wants to play after school and is asleep the moment her head hits her pillow, so reading at night was out. The promise of fancy hair if she read while it was being done in the morning is all she needed. Now we're both happy and we're getting two things done at the same time. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Please don't stop!!! Yours is the first hair blog I found, and you totally changed how I do my girls' hair. I still consider you my "home base"--I check your blog first, then check the others by clicking on the links on your sidebar.

I understand not wanting to wake up earlier than necessary to do hair. Many of us are in the same boat and we'd love to see your quick and easy hairdo ideas. Another thought...I learned last year when my daughter went to 1st grade that I could get away with doing slightly more complicated dos by doing most of the work the night before right after a shower (which is easier anyway since the hair is wet), then it didn't take much in the mornings to finish the hairdos. Obviously not all hairdos would work this way, but many will.

I think that most people who follow hair blogs would agree that yours is one of, if not THE, top hair blog out there. Anyone who looks at hair blogs has been to your sight at least once [and probably got hooked while she was there :)].

Obviously we'll respect your decision whatever it is, but please know that there are MANY of us out here that don't want you to go away completely.

Thank you SO much for all of your hard work and dedication--it is truly appreciated!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Keep post coming as much as you can. I like new ideas for 5 minute hair styles or just does the fancy schmacy ones on the weekends and post those - whatever works for you but please don't stop!!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I just found your blog and my daughters and I love it. I wouldn't mind seing "old" posts since for us they would be new. :) I would love to see you keep the blog up if at all possible. I wouldn't mind if it was just a once-a-week post.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I would just like to say you have inspired me to be able to do cute hair. I have 2 young girls and my sister is my daycare and was always the one doing their hair! I love it when people assume it was her bc it's so cute but it was really me! I want to thank you for all I've learned...(I've even learned to french braid!) I will always referance back even if there aren't new ones! You are so talented and will be missed if you stop! But all in all... everyone will understand!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh you can't quit blogging! I absolutedly love your site. I do understand about being too busy. My dd started kindergarten this year and I am having a difficult time with it. Just blog when you can, but please don't quit!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. My daughters and I are begging you not to stop blogging! Even if it is just the weekends. My 10 year old said "She has the cutest hairstyles!"

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love your blog so much. Thank you for all the amazing hair styles that you post. I am not a morning person and neither is my oldest. I have found that if I do their hair right after I give them their evening bath it saves me time in the morning. I just have a touchups in the morning and it gets us out the door pretty quick in the morning. I will would love to see more posts (even some old posts that haven't been seen in a while.) If not, thank you for all your incredible awesome inspiration. I would love to go through and see old posts and maybe try out a few older post hair-dos.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Have you thought of changing your blog up a bit to maybe a 5 minute hair theme?? I have been a fan of your blog for awhile and I have the same problem. I choose your easiest style, bath at night and use a spray bottle of water to work the hair in the morning. Hope to see more styles! Thank you for all your creativity in the past and good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I absolutely adore your blog. I've tried several of your styles, and every time I do I get so many positive comments on my 3 daughter's hair... and I tell them about your blog. Even if you just posted something new once a month even, it would be great. You have so many great hairstyles in your archives we can go to when we need it. You do have to do what's best for you, but I'm hoping you'll just cut back some, so you can still stick around for all of your followers. And I also agree, that 5 minute hairdo's are wonderful too!

    ReplyDelete
  64. PLEASE don't stop blogging..we'll totally take old hairstyles. I have LOVED every single one that you have posted. And there is no possible way that even your 5 minute do's are ever boring. Your hair blog is my absolute favorite blog of it's kind..it's the only one at the side of my own blog and I always look forward to seeing what's next..so you think I have an opinion or what?! THANK YOU so much for all of the fantastic ideas. I love using them on my 2 princesses and we get many compliments! You guys are super talented..just amazing!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I certainly understand the stress of school mornings, but if it helps, I am definitely "for" the idea of a refresher course on old hairstyles!

And there's always weekends! That doesn't sound too much like begging, does it? =)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Dont Quit PLEASE!!! What would I do without the quick and creative ideas?? I am all for seeing "old" again as well as new. I love your blog!!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I think bringing back your old stuff would be awesome! That old stuff is what got me hooked on your site in the first place. Your site is wonderful and has given me so many ideas. If you leave, know you will be missed but also that you are very much appreciated for all you have done and we all understand you have a life besides making us happy :) Best of luck in whatever you choose to do.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm not a morning person either but I really hope you decide to keep blogging. Your blog is one of my favorites! I wouldn't mind at all seeing some of the older styles you posted and would look forward to a new style whenever you have time to post one. I love your site because the styles you create are so imaginative that I couldn't come up with them on my own but still easy enough to do.
I really hope you decide to keep going but will understand if you don't. :-(

    ReplyDelete
  69. My cousin just told me about your blog site & I must say.....I LOVE IT! My little princess is only 3 yrs but we love looking through all your hair-dos. I have gotten so many ideas for her hair, I honestly dont know where to start. I understand the whole, "not being a morning person", because I so am not one either, but having two boys in school all day, I understand the quick and easy. I hope you keep your blog up for others to still see. If you do decided to keep blogging, I personally would love to see more quick and easy hair-dos.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Go ahead, take a break- but PLEASE don't take all the hard work you have done down- PLEASE leave it up so I can refer to it often. now that school has started I will start doing hair again- and I NEED THIS BLOG! :) Just saying thank you for all you have done- leave it up and I will see you next summer ?? :)

  71. Please leave it up, i love the creative hairstyles. Would be so sad if you were to take it down.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Please don't stop. You have such fun and creative hairstyles that I love. It would be so sad if you quit.

    ReplyDelete
  73. You can't stop!! I can mess up a ponytail but with your blog my girls hair is looking better.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I too am more of a lurker on your blog. My girls are too young and hairless to do anything with their hair yet, but I'm excited for the day my oldest lets me play with her hair. IF she lets me. :) I agree with everyone else, please repost some of your old favorites. Perhaps some from your blog header? I see such cute styles there and I don't know where to find them. I end up click-guessing through your archives until I either forget what I was looking for, or get lucky. :D I cannot believe how creative you are with your daughter's hair. I hope my girls will let me do some stylin' when their hair grows in.
Love your blog, hope you decide to stay, even if in a minimal way.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hi! I'm a long time reader, first time poster--- I, like others, will take what I can get. You are fabulous and would love to have a weekend update when you get time. Completely understand the morning situation, I don't know if I can keep up the hair-dos once my girlie is in school all day, but whatever will work for you and your family, but I love your blog :o)

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'd love to see you post some of the older hairstyles again & then new stuff on the weekends!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. i think that your idea on just posting old posts is brilliant!! i have enjoyed looking at your blog, and have my mom do things to me all the time. i haven't had a chance to see all the hair styles, so i sugest just posting old posts. but you have to do what you have to do. even if that means not continuing this blog. thanks for everything! :)

    ReplyDelete
  78. Yeah, don't leave completely please. I love your styling.

    ReplyDelete
  79. please don't go. please, please, please, please, please! weekends are great! also love the easy styles! actually i do most of your hair styles the night before after showers because i am not a morning person either. please don't go!

    ReplyDelete
  80. You don't have to totally stop your blog! I'm sure a lot of people would really appreciate the 5 minute hair-dos. And you don't have to do step by step photos. You can just photograph the finished hair-do, and use words to explain what you did.

    ReplyDelete
  81. i've been using your blog consistently for months now and being the mother of 3 girls-I know how hard it is to get the kids out the door in the morning (lol). So I too understand your need to stop blogging. but I think reposting your old stuff would be a GREAT idea and then adding new stuff on the weekends!!

I use this blog every week to style my girls' hair and I get tons of compliments from their teachers, friends, etc. I would love to still be able to access this even if you do decide to stop posting

    :)

  82. I have the same prob in the moring so I would love to see the simple ones like this one so we can be out the door in 5 mins and still have cute hair.

  83. Please stay! Even when your busy just take like two pics of her hair, front and back and post those once and a while so we can see what your up to! Dont forget about holidays.

  84. Thank you so much for all the cute hairstyles you have shared, I have used many of them. I, like many others, would love to see more of the 5 minute dos because I'm not a morning person either and love to do something with her hair before she's out the door and off to school.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Whatever you do, don't remove your blog. Plus, we'd be content with one a week. And actually 5 minute styles would be good... because honestly your 5 minute would take me 8.

  86. I live in the south of England, UK, and only found this amazing collection of styles this week and already my daughter has had comments on how amazing her hair is. we spend 10 mins on her hair every morning before school and it is something we both look forward to. thanks to you we've found new things to do that look so much better than what I could manage by myself - you and your princess are amazing and have made my princess very happy - I just can't wait for her little sister's hair to grow so she can have hers done too

thank you so much and please don't go unless you really have to.

  87. OK, I just discovered your blog late last night....and I just have to say, I am so glad you are continuing on with it! I have looked through it quite a bit in this little it of time since I have found it, and My daughter picked out the style on this post for me to do on her hair. So simple and yet so cute and it looks like it took some time. She loves it as do I. Thanks! I am linking you on her blog, my blog and I will be getting on FB to become a fan and pass you on to my other friends with sweet little chickadees! Oh, I and I cannot wait to enter one of your giveaways!

(Oops, I just realized I am signed in on my daughter's blog. Oh well.)
