Toddler Hairstyles, Elastic Braid Pigtails
Hairstyles for babies, toddlers and little girls.
We're doing another hairstyle that will work with short and baby fine hair today. This hairdo isn't anything unique or exciting, but oh so cute and classic. Of course, this doesn't have to be just for babies! Our 8 yr old princess wears this hairstyle either with the elastic sections alone for school, or up in pigtails/ponytails for soccer, gymnastics and dance quite a bit.
We had a few people ask about this hairstyle when we posted about The Rapunzel Wig, so we thought we better do a tutorial!
We have found that elastic braid hairstyles are great for keeping baby hair in place. If she wears just a plain ponytail or pigtails... her hair will probably fall out of a style in a few hours. With some sort of elastic design added, the hairstyle will stay in place much longer. Even with naps and lots and lots of playing!
Is there really anything cuter than a little head with piggy tails??
Hope you enjoy our circus-like tutorial: ;)

Fishtail Braid Woven Pigtails
Back To School Hairstyles
Today we're doing another request. One of our fans on facebook (Lauren) sent in a picture of these cute woven looking pigtails wanting to know if we could make a video showing how to recreate the style. I'm not going to post the original picture that she sent in, because I'm not sure where it came from (or who's child is in the photo.) We've actually done this hairstyle before, but never posted it on our blog and had forgotten about it. So I was super excited to see it again and add another back to school hairstyle to our collection. ;)
I'm thinking this would be a great school day style, as it only takes a couple of minutes to complete and looks so cute besides!
If you know how to do a basic fishtail braid, this should be easy for you!
Of course, you could make this style with or without the ribbons.
Normally when we're talking about pigtails, I think of a little girl. But these pigtails seem "grown-up" enough to work for a tween/teen or maybe an adult? What do you think? I might wear this if my hair was long enough!
I'm liking that this hairstyle has a relaxed, almost messy look.... but still finished looking.
Here's the quick and easy video tutorial. Enjoy!

Gossip Girl Hairstyle, A Twisty Ponytail
Gossip Girl Hairstyles, Blair Waldorf Hair
Update: We weren't completely happy with our first attempt at this style, so we tried again. I have to say... our 2nd recreation came out much better. Click here to see our second try: Gossip Girl Hairstyle #2 :)
This "twisty ponytail" is a hairstyle that has been requested time and time again on both our facebook page as well as in email. It seems as if I've seen this picture everywhere! But, I never knew where this image originated from until yesterday. When I uploaded the tutorial to Youtube, someone recognized it right away as a hair style from Blair on Gossip Girl! Well, I've actually never seen the show... but love love love this simple and original style!

Of course, there are several different ways this hairstyle could be created. I'm thinking a basic fishtail braid at the top of the ponytail would work. Or you could make a low ponytail and pull a topsy tail through it for a similar look. Do whatever works for you!

Here is our recreation. When I first saw the original style, I thought it looked a lot like this twisty hairstyle we posted awhile back. So, that is the basic technique I used. In retrospect I would have done a few things differently to make a more "exact match." :) For one, I would have made the twists a little tighter to keep them separated. Also, I would have crossed that bottom twist (on the right) over the last twist on the left (instead of going straight across with it.) You can learn from my mistakes, but all in all I think it turned out pretty good!

A huge thanks to those of you who requested this fun style and also to the original creator (the hairstylist for the cast of Gossip Girl?) We had fun with this one!
Waterfall Braid, Triple Braided Cheat Hairstyle
Waterfall Braiding, Cheater Style!
This cute and intricate hairstyle is super easy to complete. No french braiding skills required! You may remember awhile back when we posted our waterfall braid video "cheat" showing how to do a waterfall braid, floating braid, or fairytale braid (whatever you call this fun braid) using a topsy tail to pull the hair through the braid (instead of french braiding.) This is a variation of that hairstyle, just taken up a notch.... or 3.
This style would work well with long hair or medium length hair. I think this princess hair style would be great for a renaissance faire (very "Maid Marian.") This may even be a cute style for prom, homecoming or other dance. My daughter thought it looked a little bit like a crown braid when we were done.
Btw, we found the "design weaver" used in this video online here: Scunci - Design Weaver
Of course, if you have the time and talent... you could definitely do 3 regular waterfall french braids and actually braid everything together if you would prefer!
Here's the video tutorial, enjoy!
The princess and I are both loving boho, hippie type braided styles lately. :)
