If you love loose and slightly messy "bohemian braids" (which are so trendy and popular right now) this woven fishtail braid is for you!@braidsnfashion. We thought the braid was so unique and lovely, we had to try it out and share it with you!
This plait is created almost the same way a regular fishtail braid is formed, but with a slight variation (shown in our video tutorial below) which creates a beautiful woven pattern in the center of the braid.
We opted for one large side braid this time, but of course you could make this braid in the back of her head (centered,) or as a half ponytail (or half up, half down) style if you prefer.
- 1 small elastic to tie off the braid at the bottom.
- We actually used another elastic at the top of the braid as well, and cut it out later. This is optional, and just makes it easier to start the braid. After trying the braid a few times, I would say that I like the look of this braid better if it is started without an elastic at the top. But, either way it turns out great. You could also leave the elastic in and wrap it with some hair (or ribbon) to hide it if you want to.
- Pomade, gel, or hair wax to help control flyaways. Or you could braid the hair wet like we did to avoid flyaways without using hair product. Of course, if you are going for more of a messy look, you might want to braid your hair dry.
