Christmas Tree Hairstyle

Christmas tree hair tutorial

Hi, I am "Hair By Lori." Thank you so much to Princess Hairstyles for having me as a guest on her blog!

I am so excited to share my Ribbon Christmas Tree Braid with you today.  When I first started trying different Christmas hairstyles, I was excited because I could do anything.  Christmas is a time when “tacky” magically becomes “cool”!
However, I was even more excited when I realized that a tree braided into the hair didn’t just have to be tacky – it could be pretty too.   I think that this style is one that can be dressed up with curls and while it still might be tacky any other time of the year, at Christmas it is magical and beautiful.

Adorable Christmas hairstyle. Ribbon Christmas tree tutorial.

This Ribbon Christmas Tree Braid is a style that will get you so much attention.  It’s perfect for all of your Christmas events – from an ugly sweater party, to a school holiday party to a family event – this will be the style that everyone is talking about!

To make this hairstyle even easier for you to recreate – my Hair by Lori EZDO Christmas Tree Braid Kit is now available on Amazon.com (affiliate.) The kit comes with everything you need to recreate this festive hairstyle at home:  step by step instructions, ribbon, elastics, star for the top of the tree and your choice of decoration.  You can choose from Garland, Ornaments and LED Lights.

The Ornaments are one of my favorites because they are so beautiful and give the style a more dressed up look.  I also LOVE the LED Lights that you get in my kit.  They do not get hot so they are safe to wear in the hair.  The battery pack is lightweight and small, so it’s easy to wear and easy to hide in the style.  The length of the light string is perfect for the style.  You’ll certainly stand out with whatever option you choose.

The only warning I’ll leave you with is be prepared for lots of attention!  We have worn it out to the store and running errands and everyone stops my girls to look at their hair.  We’ve even had a few people ask if they could take photos!  Though the way that it makes my girls smile proudly, it’s worth the extra time to indulge the onlookers.  ;-)

DIY Relaxed French Braid Tutorial

DIY relaxed french braid hairstyle tutorial

This week we are happy to have our friends from "Hairburst Tutorials" guest posting on Princess Hairstyles!  Head on over to their channel after watching this tutorial to see more of their cute hairstyle ideas and videos.

This DIY French Braid is super easy, quick, and fun to make for many casual occasions.  We love the beachy, relaxed, loose, and slightly messy look of this braid (which is so popular and trendy right now.)  This 5 minute hairstyle will work great with medium length and long hair.  Curly, straight, or wavy.

We are always getting requests for DIY videos, so we are excited to be able to offer this tutorial today (for those of you who like to see hairstyles being made on someone's own head!)  This braid would also be great if you are in the process of learning how to French Braid, as you only need to add a few strands in on each side.

DIY relaxed French Braid video tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 1 medium size hair elastic to tie off the end of the braid.
  • Finishing hairspray, pomade, or gel (optional.)

Dad Does Hair, Spinning Bun Hairstyle

How to make a spinning bun tutorial by a dad

While I was out of town recently "The Princess" had an event to go to where she needed to wear a bun.  Coincidently her dad remembered seeing a video on Facebook awhile ago, showing how to make a bun by the subject spinning as the hair was magically twisted and formed into place!  Our dad does not have much experience with hair and was getting desperate, so he decided to give it a try. They decided to film a fun hair tutorial of their experiment for you, just in case it turned out... and I'm so glad they did.  What a cute little surprise I found on our memory card when I got home!

Dad and daughter hair tutorial:  How to make a spinning bun.  (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Although this video is on the silly side and was made mostly for entertainment value, this method actually does work and makes a great bun. And as you can see... it is easy and quick! Dads can do hair too!

P.S. This is not the first time "The Dad" has made an appearance on our channel.  You may remember him from the infamous "vacuum ponytail video" which has strangely and unexpectedly become quite popular on YouTube! You can see that crazy spoof here.

No French Braid Crown Braid

The Crown Braid, Without French Braiding!

Hi guys. So, you may remember the circular crown braid (or never ending braid) that we posted awhile back. I've also seen several cute variations on Youtube and other hairstyling sites recently... but all of them have involved french braiding. When we posted our variation of the style, I know we had a lot of disappointed people who wanted to try it, but didn't know how to french braid.

Then, a few weeks ago I was looking through Pinterest and happened upon this adorable braided crown......

braided crown hairstyleCute, right? And, this style was done with regular three strand braids! You can find the easy step by step tutorial to recreate this look here: Crown Braid Tutorial

*The only problem now is that you are going to need fairly long hair to pull this off. If the hair you are working with is on the shorter side, you might try placing each of the braids over the top of her head instead of wrapping them around (similar to what we did with our Christmas Heidi Braids.) Anyway, I think the tutorial on A Cup Of Jo is great and love her blog as well. She has lots of neat ideas so watch out...... you might be there for awhile. ;)

Guest Hairdos Part 3

This will be our last guest post (at least for a little while.) Then, I've got some fun hairstyle ideas for St. Patricks Day I'm hoping to squeeze in next week.

1. I had to start off with this one since Dr. Seuss's Birthday was just the other day! This "Cindy Lou Who hairstyle" was made by placing a small paper cup under her hair. The mom who sent this one in sure is creative! I love it!! This would be perfect for Halloween or Dr. Seuss Day.

2. French Braid pigtails
3. French Braided Heart

4. Twist Braids
5. French Braid Headband

7. Braided Connectors
9. 5 strand french braid! (I really want to try this.)

18. Cute Fairy Costumes
19. Easter Updo

I'm so impressed with all of these great hairdos! Thank you so much (all of you) for sending in your pictures. I hope I didn't miss anyone. If you've done a hairstyle you were wanting to share with us, you can post it to our facebook fan page at anytime.
