Homecoming Hairstyles, Flower Pull Through Side Braid

Gorgeous Homecoming hairstyle. Pull through braid on the side with rosette accents. Video tutorial.

Looking for a hairstyle for Homecoming? You'll love this beautiful side pull-through braid style with braided rose accents! This hairstyle may even be easy enough to do on yourself as a DIY Homecoming or Prom hairstyle! We know many of you will be going to the Homecoming dance in the near future, so we thought it would be fun to do a formal hairstyle tutorial this week. If you are looking for more Homecoming hair ideas, we have shown several fancy updos and half up styles in the past. Feel free to look through our Prom hairstyles for more ideas!

Flower Pull-Through Side Braid Video Tutorial (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

We have fallen in love with the look of the ever popular pull through braid and especially love it swept loosely to the side with the edges stretched out voluminously. We decided to take this glamorous style to the next level by adding some rolled flower braid accents to the center of the braid. Of course, you can add as many braided roses as you wish. If you wanted even more glam, you could incorporate jewels, other hair jewelry, or accessories to the finished braid, or in the center of your rosettes.

Cute Homecoming hairstyle. Pull through braid with flower braid accents. Video tutorial.

This hairstyle turned out so beautiful and would look stunning with a fancy Homecoming dress, for the Prom, or other formal events such as a wedding (for the bride, bridesmaids, flower girls or guests.) Although this style is quite simple, I think it is really gorgeous and would stay in place through lots of dancing and look great in photos!

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • Several small or medium size, clear elastics. (The amount will depend on your hair length and thickness of sections.)
  • Bobby pins.  We prefer using miniature pins (affiliate) when we are creating the rosettes as they are easier to hide.
  • Finishing hair spray.
This style will work best with long hair, or at least medium length. If your hair is on the shorter side, you could possibly opt for a half up variation of the style.

Easy Halo or Crown Braid Tutorial

Easy halo braid or crown braid hair tutorial. Video instructions.
In today's hair tutorial we show how to make a crown braid, halo braid, or "Heidi braids" using a super easy method or hair hack.  If you can make a regular french braid, you can do this!

We love the look of a classic halo braid but know it can be a struggle to try and french braid in a circular shape around your head!  This method we are showing today is very easy (if you know how to french braid) and looks adorable besides.

Halo/Crown Braid Cheat, Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Depending on the length of hair you are working with, you could actually cross the braids at the base of her neck before pinning them to the top of her head, to form a full circle with the braids.  My daughter's hair isn't quite long enough for that at the moment, so technically the way we styled her hair in the video (above) could be considered "Heidi braids" or "milkmaid braids" instead of a full halo.

Cute "Heidi braids" hairstyle. Easy method.

We have done this style before starting with regular pigtails, which is another "cheat" or "hair hack" rather than having to french braid around your head.  That is a great method as well, but we love the double braided look this technique creates, and also think this style lays nicer and looks more authentic (since you are actually pulling in separate pieces while french braiding, instead of bringing the hair in all together with a pigtail.)

Step by step hair tutorial. How to make a crown braid or halo braid cheat.

As mentioned in our video, you can leave your braids tight, or stretch them out for 2 different looks.  Stretching the braids will give you a more relaxed, voluminous, slightly messy bohemian look and will also make it easier to tuck in the ends of the braids and hide your bobby pins.  Leaving the braids tight can be super cute as well though, especially for little girls.

Crown braid, top view.

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 1 or 2 medium size hair elastics (depending on length of hair and how you decide to secure the ends of your braids.)
  • Several bobby pins.
  • Finishing hairspray.

This would be a cute hairstyle for school, work, church, dance, sports, special occasions, flower girls, weddings, dress up, holidays, the beach, etc.

Easy Twist Updo Hairstyle

Easy twist updo hairstyle, video tutorial.

This low side bun or chignon hairstyle would be perfect for those days when you need to look nice, but don't have a lot of time. You could wear this twisted updo for many occasions including: A prom hairstyle, homecoming, church, recitals, weddings (bridal hairstyle or guests) communions, holiday gatherings, etc.

This pretty updo is so easy it could be a DIY hairstyle!  Check out our simple step-by-step hair tutorial showing how to create an elegant low side bun below:

Easy Twist Updo Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Although this style can be made to look quite fancy, you could also wear this bun for casual or everyday occasions as well.  This updo can be made to look smooth and sleek, or more relaxed and tousled, depending on the look you are going for. You could add some texture above your ponytail before you make the bun and frame your face with some wispy pieces if you are wanting a more bohemian looking style. You could even pull the twists apart a little more to make an adorable messy bun.  Along with formal occasions, I could see this being a cute casual hairstyle for school, work, or even the beach.

Easy updo hairstyle! Hair tutorial showing step by step instructions.

Hairstyle for prom, homecoming, weddings. Easy video tutorial.

Supplies needed to recreate this updo hairstyle:
  • 1 medium size ponytail holder.  You will want to choose one that is stretchy, and strong.
  • Several bobby pins.
  • Hairspray, gel, wax, etc.

I love that this style can be created with just one hair tie and a few bobby pins, and it literally only takes a few minutes to do! This hairstyle will work best with medium or long hair and most hair textures.

8th Grade Dance Hairstyle Tutorial and Dress! Princess Hairstyles

Gorgeous braided crown half up hairstyle tutorial.

Today we are showing a hair tutorial and fashion video in one, featuring the pretty braided hairstyle and dress she wore to her eighth grade dance!

Recently my daughter went to the traditional end of middle school dance. This dance is typically a semi formal occasion in our area which some teens have nicknamed the "8th grade Prom" or "eighth grade graduation." This dance is the last celebration before entering High School as a Freshman!

She wanted a half up half down hairstyle with braids, so this is what we came up with.  We have combined french braids, lace braids, feather braids, and a loop braid technique to create a delicate braided crown design.  This hairstyle is fairly simple and classic, yet eye catching and elegant. Truly a "Princess Hairstyle" that could be worn for many special occasions: Communions, Homecoming, Prom, church, recitals, graduation, weddings (both for brides or flower girls hairstyles) etc.

8th Grade Dance Hair Tutorial And Dress Video: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Cute feather loop braid hairstyle tutorial.

8th grade dance hair tutorial. Half up hairstyle with braids.

After creating her cute braided tie back hairstyle, we added some curls off camera.  Our "Curling Wand Curls Tutorial" from a few years ago can be found here.

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • Clip or hair tie to temporarily hold one side of the braid while you are braiding the other side.
  • Hairspray, pomade, wax, or gel to help prevent flyaways.
  • 1 medium size clear elastic.
  • Curling wand, curling iron, rollers or other curling device (optional, if you want curls.)
The Dress:

She was hoping to find a dress that was fancy, but not too "over the top" formal.  We both fell in love with the adorable and fashionable white chiffon shift dress shown in our video (above) from JCPenney.  I could not find a link to the exact dress online, but here are a few very similar dresses on amazon (affiliate.)

The necklace shown with the dress in our video is also from JCPenney.  Her ankle boots are from Old Navy.

Easter Hairstyles, Braided Dream Catcher Hair Tutorial

Braided dream catcher hair tutorial. Cute hairstyle for Easter.
Looking for a hairstyle for Easter?  This braided "dream catcher" half up hairstyle is very cute and easy!

For today's hair tutorial we have utilized lace braids, rope braids (or twist braids,) a feather braid technique, and a basket weave criss cross webbing pattern to create a fun dream catcher design.

This half up hairstyle would be great for many occasions (not just Easter!) You could wear this style to school, church, for weddings, the Prom/Homecoming, recitals, communions, etc.  I think this would make an adorable flower girl hairstyle as well.

Braided Dream Catcher Hairstyle, Step By Step Video Tutorial:  (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Braided dream catcher hairstyle. Step by step video tutorial.

You'll notice we made a "pompadour" with her bangs area by gently pulling the hair forward after placing the elastic in the front section of her hair.  We wanted some volume in the front, but of course this step is optional.

Adorable dream catcher hairstyle, video tutorial.

Braided dream catcher hairstyle tutorial.

If you prefer, you could use lace dutch braids instead of french braids around the outside of the dream catcher (and switch out any type of braids you want for the weaving in the center as well.)

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 2 small or medium size hair elastics, (clear or similar to the color or hair you are working with.)
  • Temporary hair ties or clips to hold the braids while you are working (we used 8.)
  • Hair products: pomade, gel, hair spray, etc.
If you love this look, be sure to check back. We will be posting a very cute variation of this hairstyle in the next few weeks!

Micro Woven Waterfall Twist Braid Tutorial

Micro woven waterfall twist braid tutorial.
Today's hair tutorial is a fun variation of the popular waterfall twist braid!

One of our all time favorite braids is the classic waterfall twist.   We love how simple, quick and gorgeous it is.  Waterfall braids in general are so beautiful with the cascading strands flowing through the braid! We have an older video (dating back to 2011) showing how to make the original waterfall twist braid if you want to check that out.

This week we decided to try a new idea by weaving a micro braid along the top of the twists of our waterfall.  We love the unique checkerboard pattern which was created!

  • As mentioned in our video, a topsy tail is not required to create this braid, but it does make it easier. (Affiliate.)

Prom Hairstyle, Romantic Twist Half Up

Pretty Prom hairstyle. Romantic twist half up.
Looking for a hairstyle for Prom?  You'll love this beautiful bohemian half up hairstyle!

This gorgeous twisted crown hairstyle may be easy enough to do on yourself as a DIY prom hairstyle!  No difficult braiding skills are required, just a simple twisting technique (that anyone can do) will create this glamorous princess hairstyle.

Our neighbor asked if I would do her hair for Prom recently and this was the style she requested in the form of a photo. The hairstyle turned out so beautiful on her and looked stunning with her Prom dress, so we thought we would share this Prom hair tutorial in case any of you are looking for a formal hairstyle to wear to your next dance, wedding, or fancy event!  Although this style is quite simple, I think it is really gorgeous.

: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

You'll notice in our tutorial that we show a little trick to place volume at the crown of her head without having to tease her hair (which can be damaging and a pain to comb out later.) We also show how to cover the elastic in the center of the hairstyle in a way that blends in nicely with the twists and doesn't require any additional bobby pins or elastics.

Prom hairstyle tutorial. Half up twist princess hairstyle.

Half up prom hairstyle tutorial. Romantic twist with loose curls.

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 2 medium size, clear hair elastics.
  • To create natural looking, soft, loose curls, we used our "reverse curling wand" (affiliate.)
  •  Before applying heat, you may want to use heat protectant to help minimize the damage to your hair.  The one we have been using and is shown in our video is from TRESemme (affiliate.)
  • Finishing hairspray.

This hairstyle is similar to the Aurora hairstyle (inspired by Disney's "Maleficent") that we did over on the Disney Style YouTube channel a few years ago.  If you love this look, you can check that out to see another technique for creating a twisted half up style.

4 Strand Rosette Heart Hairstyle For Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day hairstyle. 4 strand rosette heart hair tutorial.

Looking for Valentine's Day hairstyles? We have one more for you today! You'll love this romantic half up, half down 4 strand braid rosette heart hairstyle.

The basic technique and concept for creating this type of heart hairstyle (by wrapping the hair around 2 ponytails at the top of the heart) is nothing new and has been a popular Valentine's hairstyle over the past few years.  We love this base style and thought it would be fun to try it with a 4 strand ribbon braid and love how it turned out! We thought the "swirls" at the top of the heart looked like little roses (or rosettes) and the ribbon really makes the heart "pop."  You'll notice that we used fairly thick ribbon and made loose braids for "fluffy" looking roses and a pretty "lace like" heart shape.  If you use thinner ribbon and braid tight, your heart will come out more distinct and uniform looking, which is also a beautiful variation.

4 Strand Rosette Heart Hairstyle, Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Heart hair tutorial. 4 strand rosette half up half down hairstyle.

My daughter was wearing braids the night before we filmed this hairstyle to create some no-heat waves and texture.  This style would work great with straight hair, wavy hair, or curly hair.  If your hair is shorter, you could make the buns at the top separately and then start a new braid beneath the bun on each side to form the rest of the heart.

Pretty heart hairstyle for Valentine's Day. 4 strand rosette tutorial.

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 3 small, clear hair elastics.
  • Several bobby pins.  We used miniature pins from Sally Beauty Supply (affiliate.) We have found that smaller pins are easier to hide in delicate styles like this.
  • Ribbon.  We used about 2 feet on each half of the heart.

Streaming Heart Hairstyle For Valentine's

Pretty streaming heart hairstyle for Valentine's Day, Video tutorial
New streaming heart hairstyle tutorial. One of our best and favorite Valentine's hairstyles so far!

Hey guys, this week our hair tutorial is on this beautiful "streaming heart" hairstyle.  We have combined a feather braid (you could use a waterfall braid if you prefer) and a braided heart to create this lovely half up design.

This style would be great for Valentine's day, school, a formal dance (Prom / Homecoming) church, weddings, special occasions, anytime during February, flower girls, etc.  We created this look with older girls and teens in mind, although it would be adorable for little girls as well. I would not recommend this hairstyle for high activity days or sports as it is quite delicate.  ;) If you want to make this style more "activity friendly" you could always add a bun, ponytail, or braid with the remaining hair at the bottom of the heart (instead of leaving her hair mostly down.)

Hanging Heart Ponytail

Quick and easy heart hairstyle for Valentines. Hanging heart ponytail tutorial.

Our hair tutorial this week is a cute and easy heart ponytail hairstyle!

I can't believe it is already time to start thinking about Valentine's hairstyles for 2017.  Over the years, Valentines and heart hairstyles have been some of our favorite styles to create.  If you are looking for heart hairstyle ideas, we have more than we can count on our website, some of them dating way back to 08'!  You can check those out here: Heart Hairstyles

We love that this hanging heart ponytail is quick and easy with no special braiding skills required. Perfect for school mornings!

Hanging Heart Ponytail Video Tutorial:  Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.

Cute heart hairstyle. Hanging heart ponytail.

Easy heart hairstyle tutorial. Hanging heart ponytail video.

Although we demonstrated this technique showing one single heart in a ponytail, you could add more than one heart if you choose, or add this heart as an accent to a variety of different style options such as a half up, etc.  This style would not only be cute for Valentine's day, but would also make an adorable flower girl hairstyle for a wedding.

You might remember a style we posted a couple of years ago called the "heart knot hairstyle" which has been quite popular on social media.  The heart shown in our tutorial today is made using a similar technique, although the knots forming the top of the heart are tied in a slightly different way.  In our opinion, we prefer the way this "hanging heart" is shaped (with a more distinct point where the halves of the heart meet in the center.)

(Comparison photo below with the "heart knot" on the left and the "hanging heart" on the right.)

Supplies needed to recreate this look:
  • 2 small hair elastics to create the heart
  • 1 medium or large hair tie for the top of the ponytail
  • Pomade, gel, or other product to help control flyaways

Side Braided Wreath Or Halo Braid Hairstyle

side halo braid or wreath braid tutorial
A cute braided hairstyle for Christmas (or anytime.) No bobby pins required!

Hey guys! This week we are showing a fun variation of the standard halo braid (or wreath braid) which is always a popular style this time of year.  We have utilized an "off centered" dutch lace braid to create this halo on the side of her head, instead of in the center (which is more typical of this style.)  We chose to leave most of her hair down for an elegant half up look.  If you want to make this an updo, you could incorporate all of her hair into this side halo braid as well.

This would be a fabulous hairstyle for many formal or special occasions:  Holiday parties, church, Christmas Eve, school dances, recitals, etc.

Side Braided Wreath or Halo Braid, Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on Youtube.)

Side halo braid or wreath braid half up hairstyle

Pretty Christmas hairstyle, side halo braid tutorial

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 1 medium size clear elastic
  • Hair product to help control flyaways
  • We love that we were able to finish this style with no bobby pins!  If you have fairly long hair, the braid should hold just fine on its own by using the topsy tail technique shown in our video.  If your hair is shorter, you will most likely need a few pins to hold the end in place.
  • Topsy Tail. These can be found in some stores where beauty supplies are sold, and online here (affiliate.)
  • Decorative hair clips or pins (optional.) We purchased ours at Sally Beauty Supply. We found something similar online here (affiliate.)

Elegant Elastic Christmas Tree Hairstyle & Bun

Elegant Christmas Tree Hairstyle Tutorial

This week we are kicking off the holiday season with a festive Christmas tree hairstyle!  And, I think this might be our favorite Christmas hairstyle that we have done to date.  We love how easy and simple this pretty updo style is to create, yet it looks so unique, cute, sweet, and elegant.  This X-mas hairstyle would be perfect for many occasions this holiday season: Christmas parties, meeting Santa, holiday photos, Christmas dinner, Christmas morning, holiday parades, school, church, recitals, concerts, Christmas shopping, making holiday treats, decorating the Christmas tree, making gingerbread men, a winter dance or wedding, etc.

Christmas Tree Hairstyle & Bun Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

You can create any type of bun that you want at the top of the tree (a donut bun, sock bun, messy bun, braided bun, twisted bun, rolled bun, etc.)  We decided on a triple braided bun

Elastic Christmas Tree Hairstyle and Bun Video Tutorial

Of course, you can leave your tree "as is" or you can decorate it and make it more glamorous if you want.  A star or angel at the top would be beautiful, as well as ribbon, ornaments, glitter, gems, or even lights.

X-mas hairstyle! Christmas tree and bun tutorial.

Easy Christmas tree hairstyle tutorial.

You may remember a similar style we did on my little toddler niece several years ago as a "candy corn hairstyle" with the elastics on the side/top of her head going into a side ponytail. As mentioned in our video tutorial, this elastic tree positioned on the back of her head and bun combination is inspired by a "candy corn" hairstyle that has been trending on Instagram this Fall. The first thing I thought of when I saw this style was, not only is this adorable as a candy corn... but it would also make a fabulous Christmas tree! Many Instagramers have posted this candy corn hairstyle recently and I wanted to share a few awesome accounts that we saw it on: @pr3ttygirl79 @simplystranded @brownhairedbliss @twogirls_hairstyles @jespi09 @toddlerhairideas @prettyhstyle3029 @kares84 I know there are more and don't want to leave anyone out!  If you posted this style, feel free to leave your Instagram in the comments and we will check it out. :)

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • Several small, green elastics (the amount you will need will depend on the size of tree you make. We used 9 green and 1 yellow for the star at the top.) The brand we used is "goody ouchless."
  • 1 ponytail holder, large enough to contain all of your hair.
  • 1 medium size, clear elastic to hold the braids before you make the bun.
  • Several bobby pins.
  • Any optional accessories you want to decorate your tree with. (Decorative pins, gems, star clips, ornaments, ribbon, etc.

Topsy Tail Bun Tutorial

Easy and quick topsy tail bun tutorial. Only one elastic and no bobby pins!
A quick and easy bun, perfect for dance or ballet!

A few weeks ago we saw this simple and beautiful bun while scrolling through Instagram on an account called "brownhairedbliss." As soon as we saw this "flip through topsy tail" technique, we knew we wanted to try it.  My daughter is a dancer, so dance hairstyles and ballet buns are a huge part of our life. ;)  Sometimes it can be a struggle to put all of her long hair up, and we get tired of our usual bun makers, donut buns, and sock buns.  A standard or braided bun (wrapped around the top of the ponytail) always requires using tons of bobby pins and elastics and can be a pain to take out.  So, we were super excited to see that this bun is quick and easy, and that it only requires using one ponytail holder and zero bobby pins!

Topsy Tail Bun Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

P.S. Watch to the end of the video to see how to take this bun out and for some tips and tricks. The topsy tail we used can be found on Amazon (affiliate) and in some stores.  The brand we use is "Conair."

Simple bun tutorial. Flip through topsy tail technique.

Quick and easy bun for ballet and dance. Topsy tail bun using no bobby pins.

She tested this bun one afternoon while doing all sorts of trampoline tricks, and it held up and stayed in extremely well (which is quite amazing considering it is only being held together with one hair tie.)

Of course, this bun isn't only for dancers.  This updo hairstyle could be worn for many casual occasions such as school, for sports, for cheer leading, gymnastics, to work, to the beach, etc.  This could also be worn for more formal occasions; church, weddings, prom, homecoming, communions, recitals, flower girls, etc.

Supplies needed to recreate this bun:
  • 1 hair tie, elastic, or ponytail holder. (You will want something sturdy that can handle all of your hair in a ponytail.)
  • Topsy tail tool. (Affiliate) The package we purchased contains 2 different sizes.  We used the smaller size.
  • Finishing hairspray, pomade, or gel (optional.)

Cornucopia Braid Half up Hairstyle

Cornucopia braid hair tutorial

Our hairstyle tutorial this week is a variation of the "stingray braid" (which we have previously done a tutorial on) combined with an elegant braided flower.  I was playing around with the stingray braid (which is one of our favorites) and fell in love with how it looked when I tried pulling the feathered strands over and braided them in on the opposite side of the French braid.  After filming the tutorial of this braid, my husband told me that the finished hairstyle looked just like a cornucopia! After pointing this out, I couldn't see anything else, so this is the name that stuck! Many different and unique hairstyles can be made by using this technique shown in our tutorial, below...

Cornucopia Braid Half Up Hairstyle, Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Cornucopia braid half-up hairstyle

Gorgeous half up hairstyle, the cornucopia braid

Pretty hairstyle with braided flower, the cornucopia braid

We decided to leave half of her hair down, and added a braided rosette to the bottom/side of the braid for a sweet and feminine touch.  If you wanted to make an updo hairstyle instead of a half-up, you could easily add in all of the hair you are working with and end with the rosette at the nape of the neck.  This cornucopia braid could also be created by using a dutch braid instead of a french braid for a slightly different variation.  This elegant hairstyle would be great for a wedding, prom, church, recital, communion, etc..

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 2 clear hair elastics
  • Several bobby pins
*This hairstyle should work best on long hair, medium hair, straight hair, wavy hair and possibly curly hair.  You may want to use pomade, gel, wax or other product if your hair is prone to flyaways, frizz, or if you have layers.

P.S. I thought I had seen something similar to the top half of this hairstyle on Instagram, so I looked.... and looked! And sure enough, I finally found the braid I had remembered, the "flip over ladder braid" on an awesome account called "Abellas Braids."  Although we both created the braid in a different way, the end result looks very similar, so be sure to check hers out for a different method if you love this one!

Woven Braid Pull Back Hairstyle

Woven braid tie back hairstyle, video tutorial

This week we are showing a fun half-up woven hairstyle that "The Princess" has been wearing a lot lately. This style has a relaxed, soft, bohemian feel to it (which is so trendy right now) and would be great for teens, women, and girls. I could see this style working for casual occasions; A day at the beach, hanging out with friends, a date, or school.  But, this would also be pretty for more formal events such as a wedding, prom, etc.

Woven Braid Pull Back Hairstyle Video Tutorial: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Although the braiding/weaving in this hairstyle looks to be quite intricate, it is actually fairly quick and easy to create (as shown in our tutorial, above.) This style should work with long hair and medium length hair.  If your hair texture tends to frizz or is prone to flyaways, I would suggest weaving the hair while wet, or use pomade/gel to help keep the braid smooth for you.

Gorgeous woven braid pull-back hairstyle tutorial.

Pretty woven half up hairstyle

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 1 medium size, clear elastic.
  • 2-3 alligator clips/claw clips to help hold things together while you are weaving.
  • Pomade/gel/hair wax to help control flyaways.
Over the past 8 years that we have been hair blogging/vlogging, we have done quite a few woven hairstyles and they always seem to become our favorites.  I think the weaving pattern is just so beautiful! One of the very first hairstyles we posted on our blog (and still one of our all time favorites) was our "woven pigtails" in 2008.  And then the basket weave half-up in 2009. This "woven braid pull back" is a more grown up version (which my daughter loves now that she is a teenager!)

Braided Lattice Pull-Through Hairstyle

braided lattice pull through hairstyle tutorial

Braided Lattice Pull-Through Hairstyle, Video Instructions: (Click here to watch the video directly on YouTube.)

Cute braided lattice pull-through hair tutorial

Easy hairstyle. Braided lattice pull-through video tutorial

This "braided lattice pull through hairstyle"  is inspired by a similar style we saw on Instagram by: "jennies_hairstyles"

We both love that this half-up hairstyle is fairly quick and easy, but still looks intricate and unique.  We are always getting requests for DIY styles and I think this one would be easy enough to do on yourself. No French braiding involved!

This hairstyle reminds me of something a medieval princess would wear!  So delicate and pretty. I think this would be cute for weddings, communions, school, church, flower girls, prom, homecoming, etc.

Supplies needed to recreate this hairstyle:
  • 1 medium, clear elastic
  • 4 small, clear elastics
  • 2 temporary clips or hair ties
  • Water, gel, or pomade (to help control flyaways)

Of course, you can switch up the braids in the center for any type of braid you want to use (rope braids, fishtails, 4-strands.)  This style should work with long hair, medium hair, straight, wavy, or curly.
