Micro Braid Lattice Wrap Hairstyle

Micro braid lattice wrap hairstyle video tutorial

This braid is inspired by a photo we saw a couple of years ago on Pinterest and tracked it down to an awesome account on Instagram called @haartraum. We thought this braid was very cute and "princess like" and hope you like it too!

I think this would be a lovely hairstyle for school, sports, work, or other casual occasions.  I love the delicate and subtle accent micro braids wrapping around the sides of the french braid (which add a lot of interest and style with an almost lattice looking pattern) to an otherwise ordinary and standard braid.

Of course, you can use any type of micro braids to accent your main braid (rope braids, fishtail braids, etc.) I really love how the regular 3 strand braids look in this particular style though, they really pop! Also, if you prefer Dutch braiding over French braiding, you can go that route instead for another variation.  Or you can skip all of that and just start with a regular braided ponytail or low side braid (or center braid) if you desire.

This hairstyle is fairly quick and easy to create, which we all love on school mornings. As shown in our video tutorial (above) the braids can be threaded through quite easily using just your fingers.... but if you have a topsy tail, it might make things even easier.  I would recommend starting with wet hair, or use some gel or pomade to help avoid flyaways if you are threading the braids by hand.  I suppose you could add the micro braids in as you are braiding the main French braid if you want to skip the threading part altogether, but this would make the braiding a little more complicated.  ;)

Supplies needed to recreate this braid:
  • 2 small clear elastics
  • 1 medium clear elastic or hair tie
  • Water, gel, or pomade to help control flyaways
  • Topsy Tail (optional)
This hairstyle will work best on long hair or medium length hair.
