Waffle Cone Ponytail, Easy Hairstyle

Another fun ponytail to try!
Waffle Cone Ponytail Hairstyle Tutorial

This cute woven ponytail hairstyle was named the "waffle cone" by a few awesome members on our Facebook page this week. The Princess and I loved this suggestion, as the woven pattern and triangular shape of this style does look very similar to a waffle cone! And, who doesn't love ice cream... and cute hair?  ;)

At first glance, this hairstyle seems to be fairly complicated with what looks to be a waterfall or dutch braid on each side, and a fishtail type of braid in the middle.  But as you will see in our video tutorial below, there is actually no braiding involved here at all, which makes this a very easy hairstyle to create!  This ponytail is perfect for one of those days when you don't want to put in a lot of time or effort, but still want to look extra cute.  This is a great one for school, work, sports, church and special occasions, along with every day wear.

The inspiration for this unique hairstyle originally came from an image we saw on Pinterest by a user named "Лена Роговая" (in Russian.) We took the original style and changed it up a bit for our personal preference, and the "waffle cone" was born!

You might have noticed that the pictures up until this point are not of  "The Princess" but rather our mannequin (Plastic Patty.)  We have been quite busy at our house recently with after school sports, homework, and every day life.  The only time I could find to fit in a tutorial this week was while the Princess was at school!  So, Plastic Patty got to be our model for this tutorial.  The Princess has actually worn this style out and about a few times recently, so we did manage to get a quick picture to show what the style will look like on "real hair" (below.)

This hairstyle is versatile in that you can choose to go down as far (or as little) as you want with the weaving.  As you can see, we extended the "braid" a little bit further on the Princess than we did on the mannequin for a slightly different look.

Supplies needed to create this hairstyle:
  • Several small, clear elastics.  The number you will need will depend on how far you choose to go down with the braid.
  • A hairstyling clip (or an extra hand) to help hold extra hair out of the way while you are working.
  • A bow, flower, clip, or ribbon to accessorize the end of the ponytail (optional.)

I would recommend this hairstyle for long hair, medium hair, curly, wavy, or straight.
