Mini Woven Star Hairstyle

Here's another cute, quick, and easy hairstyle for school. A 5 minute hairdo!!

This hair design is similar to one of our all time favorites (the woven tiara) just simplified a little. It takes half as many elastics and less time, yipee!

star hairstyle Make 3 small ponies in the front and split them each in half. (Like the middle pony in this picture.)Take the 2 strands from the left pony and the right strand on the middle pony and lay them across her head (slanting towards the right side.) Take the remaining 3 strands and weave them through, over to the opposite side.Take the 3 strands on the right in one hand and the 3 strands on the left in the other. Tighten everything up and add some elastics to each side.

This picture is driving me nuts. I should have either tightened up the elastic on the right or loosened the elastic on the left. BUT, there's no time for redoing stuff on school mornings. Just keeping it real (again.) :)At this point you could make a ponytail, pigtails, a bun, or even leave it down. Whatever you want! We did a quick ponytail.
fancy ponytailAnd of course it always helps to add a cute bow or flower! This one came from Flowerz In Her Hair.com.
quick and easy hairstyle I have to say, I think her head looks pretty cute from the top with her little woven star!

  3. I love your hairstyles. Just one question: How do you get the little rubberbands out of their hair? It's always the dread part of any hairstyle... at the end of the day when it's time to take those plastics out... I can't do it without hair breaking and being pulled. Help!

  7. Very cute! I'll have to try that one out too. My daughter wants "fancy" hair some days and basic hair other days so it works out well. Some days it's literally just a section pulled off her face with an elastic and a bow! I dread the days she insists on a headband because they just don't stay in well. But that's one she can do "herself".
For the other commentor's question on getting the elastics out - I cute them! I pull up one strand of it and snip it with scissors. I was pulling too much hair out of my DD's head pulling them out. They can't be re-used anyway. At least not the cheap-o ones I buy. We use too many!

  8. Nikki,

I agree with mom anonymous, sometimes it's easier to just cut them out. We use a seam ripper. If I want to save the elastics I'm using, I make sure not to get them super tight when I'm putting them in. Good luck!!

  15. Oh I love the addition of the big beautiful flower. One of these days my daughter will get more than a puff of hair on her head and I'll actually be able to put all these great techniques to use.

  20. I really like this one. I did a star on my daughter last week while she was home from school. I put the center ponytail a little higher than the 2 sides, so I got a more "defined" star shape. Hope that helps:)
