Half Ponytail Ribbon Heart Hairstyle

Who's tired of hearts yet? I wasn't going to post any more of these. But... I just keep thinking of more variations I want to try. I promise I'll stop after Valentine's Day!!Make a half pony. Split in half and braid each side.Form a heart shape. I didn't do step by step instructions for the sewing. Go to this sewn heart hairstyle if you need help with that. Start at the bottom, by the elastic and just wrap the ribbon around the braid until you get up to the point where the heart is sitting on top of the half pony. That is where you start sewing. Grab as much hair with your stitches as you can because the ribbon at the top is holding the heart onto her head and also forming the shape. So, only the top 8 stitches (4 on each side) are actually sewn to her hair. The rest of the ribbon is just wrapped around the braid on each side. Does that make any sense?
This one was fairly quick. We were done in 12 minutes.

  2. We found that these work better when you pull the ponytail up through the top first (a reverse flipped ponytail or I think, you call it a pull through). That way the hair is already coming out the top and makes the heart shape more defined.

My girls have loved all the heart hair-dos you've shown! They had so many compliments at church on Sunday. The best thing is a lot of these I can do the night before right after their baths so it doesn't take as long on Sunday morning. It's hard to get six girls' hair done when there's 9am church and we live 45 minutes from town!

  3. I love the heart do's. I tried the other variation of this one on my daughter yesterday, but because her hair is fine it didn't hold the heart shape well, even with bobby pins. I had an idea this morning to add red pipe cleaner to the braid and then you can shape it and add color as well.
