The Fountain Hairdo For Girls

Really, this is just a continuation of this hairstyle. So much for keeping it quick, I couldn't help myself!! Start out with three sections like this............

Do the 2 pull throughs on the sides first. Split them both in two and send one of the pieces on each side up to the top. Gather them in with the top section and do a pull through. (If you don't know how to do a pull through, look under my "quick search labels" for "videos." You'll find a video tutorial there!)
Do more pull throughs on each side. Split these in 2. Send one piece up to join the next middle section. Also add in the leftover strands from the previous pull throughs...........
Do your pull through in the middle section, and repeat in the last section. Just try to make your last section straight and not crooked like mine. Ha Ha Add a bow if you want........
I'm trying to decide if I really need a topsy tail. I'm thinking it would keep everything a little neater. Do any of you use one? Let me know if you do, and if you think it makes a difference.

Whould you like to comment?

  3. My Dad made one for me years ago when they first came out. He took an old wire hanger, snipped off the hook, straightened it out, curved it around and taped it closed. It works wonderfully. I would recommend using it.

  4. I made my own topsy tail type tool out of some plastic coated wire and an electrical nut. I'm amazed that people can make pull throughs look so good with just their fingers . . . I must have fat fingers or something because I could never figure it out. Anyway, I'll send you a picture of my budget, homemade topsy tail so you can borrow the idea if you want.

  5. I personally don't like the Topsy Tail. The loop is too big and stretches the opening. I like a rat tail comb, better.

  12. I actually use my biggest crochet hook to do my pull thru ponies. It works for me.

  13. I love my topsy tail. My daughter has layers in her hair and it really helps get it all through without any fly aways. I never use a rat tail comb anymore. Plus I like that there are two sizes. Anything to make the mornig routine go smoother.

  14. I use the really heavy duty plastic cover twist ties that secure the kids toys in the boxes. I just fold it in half and it works great.

  18. That is so cute! I want to remember this one for when my daughter has longer hair. Its only to her sholders. I have my topsy tail thing from when I was little. I use it all the time. I love it. I just think it makes it faster and easier. I think you do a great job with out it.

  23. I love doing hairstyles like this on my girl.... at thirteen, she's still into it but mostly she likes her hair down and straight! About once a week we try something like this and it is always a hit at school! Thanks for the ideas, you are now officially bookmarked.

  24. I've done something similar to this one, but I like yours better! And my friend Stephanie taught me a cool way to make your own topsy tail. You know the wires that are in craft stores usually by the fake flowers and stuff. Well tudu--- use one of those and it does ll you need it to do!

  25. I used to have a topsy tail (I think my Mom still has it) and I loved it--the only thing was that it was a little fat so harder to use on the smaller pull throughs, granted we bought ours in probably 1990...

I love your styles, my little girl is 2 1/2 and still have baby fine short hair so I can't do much but piggy tails but I'm getting great ideas for the future!

  27. It is much easier and faster for me if I just use a comb. I think I have gotten pretty good at making them really neat.

  29. Cool blog! Thanks for the ideas! I was looking for a way to make my own Topsy Tail and everyone else's solutions got my creative juices flowing and I used 2 zip ties with the locking ends cut off and super glued together with tape to reinforce and cover the "pokey" ends. It works great!
